But there are only a few films that deal with the lives of people in the food industry. On this occasion, and incredible as it may seem, it is Eva Longoria who will bring us the life of the man who invented one of the most popular snack foods of recent times. Here we present the trailer and everything you need to know about it Flamin’ Hota film that reveals the origin of this special taste cheetos
Why is?
The film is about Richard Montañez, a man who spent his youth as a petty criminal. Eventually, Montañez got a menial job at the Frito-Lay plant in California. While working there, the Mexican immigrant came up with the idea of flavoring the Cheetos with chilli powder. So he contacted PepsiCo executives to present him with the option, but also found that becoming a businessman was fraught with obstacles and corporate spoilers.
Cast and production team
The dramatic comedy stars Jesse García (Ambulance, sons of anarchy) as the famous inventor of the snack. Next to him we see Annie González (man made), Dennis Haysbert (secret obsession), Tony Shalhoub (The wonderful Mrs. Maisel), Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anarchy), Matt Walsh (You) and Pepe Serna (man from Reno).
Flamin’ Hot represents the debut of actress Eva Longoria (Desperate wives) as director and has a screenplay by Lewis Colick and Linda Yvette Chavezwho created the hit series Peoplefied. Both were inspired by the novel A Boy, a Burrito, and a Cookie: From Janitor to Manager, Written by Montanez. DeVon Franklin (Miracles from heaven, an unbreakable love) acts as the tape’s producer.
What can we expect from the film?
Although the film addresses some of the legal struggles Montañez faced in order to bring his idea to fruition, there will also be some comedic touches as we observe his personal development. In any case, don’t expect a story centered on the rise of the snack, because Longoria says the film goes much further. This commented for Los Angeles Times:
“We never intended to tell the Cheetos story. We tell the story of Richard Montañez and we tell his truth. His genius was that he knew the Hispanic market and knew how to mobilize it. Your story is our story. We are all Richard Montañez. There was a moment in our lives when someone said, “No, no, no.” Ideas don’t come from people like you. But he just dared to ask, ‘Why not me?’”
unfortunately, Flamin’ Hot was also involved Controversy. In May 2021 an article was published by Los Angeles Times mentioned that Frito-Lay, the factory where Montañez worked, denied the Mexican’s contribution in the creation of the Flamin’Hot Cheetos. The company assured that It was employees from the Upper Midwest region who developed this flavor.
“We recognize Richard’s many contributions to our business, particularly his knowledge of Hispanic consumers, but we do not give him credit for developing Flamin’ Hot Cheetos or Flamin’ Hot products,” said Frito-Lay.
Although the film was already in development at the time the article was published, Longoria stated that those words did not affect or detract from development.
