The film was released on the platform on August 22nd and was at number one in the first week and is currently at number three. These numbers have led to people already talking about developments “The Black Demon 2”.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s producers revealed that they are in discussions about a sequel. However, the ongoing strikes in Hollywood are preventing an agreement from being concluded for the time being. Additionally, Javier Chapa, one of the project’s producers, said via Mucho Mas Media that part of the film’s success may be due to its Latin American influence.

The film is directed by Adrian Grunberg and stars Josh Lucas as an oil inspector who is sent to a Mexican city to inspect an offshore oil platform. There, Lucas and his family face a violent megalodon shark that threatens their livelihood. Fernanda Urrejola, Venus Ariel, Carlos Solrzano and Julio Cesar Cedillo complete the cast.
