During Apple’s WWDC 2023 event, the company gave a sneak peek at Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated film,Napoleon‘. In the short sequence we see a huge ship in which the protagonist of the film, Joaquin Phoenix, appears as the French emperor and general Napoleon.

The film aims to offer a new and original approach to Napoleon Bonaparte, from the beginning of his career as a soldier to his appointment as Emperor of France, all through his relationship with his wife Josephine. The film will capture Napoleon’s famous battles, his relentless ambition and his amazing strategic mind as an exceptional military leader and war visionary.

Vanessa Kirby, Ludivine Sagnier, Ben Miles, Tahar Rahim, Ian McNeice, Matthew Needham and Paul Rhys are some of the actors and actresses accompanying Phoenix in this project, which premieres on November 22nd. The film will be distributed by Sony Pictures before premiering on Apple TV+ at a date to be determined.

David Scarpa wrote the screenplay for the film, which is being produced by Scott and Kevin Walsh for Scott Free.
