Emma Myers signs on for live-action “Minecraft” film.

Deadline reports that young actress Emma Myers (‘Wednesday’) will join the cast of the live-action film that Warner Bros. Pictures is currently developing.Minecraft‘, a premiere on April 4, 2025.

Currently, there are no details regarding the plot of this film, which will also feature a cast of Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. Jared Hess, responsible for films like “Napoleon dynamite‘ And ‘Great nachos‘, will direct the film, replacing Peter Sollett.

Filming is expected to begin in New Zealand later this month. We are talking about an adaptation of the independent open world construction video game developed by the Swedish indie company Mojang AB. The success led Microsoft to acquire Mojang for $2.5 billion.

The project to reunite Momoa with the production company‘Dune’, Mary Parent, who co-produced the film with Roy Lee. The late Jill Messick will also receive production credits for her work on the film before her death in 2018. Executive producers are Jon Berg, Cale Boyter and Jon Spaihts, along with Lydia Winters and Vu Bui, head of public relations and former COO of Mojang Studios, Minecraft developer, also producing.

The game was first released to the public in 2009, with a version in development for official release later in 2011. The film has been in development for several years since Warner Bros. won the battle to acquire the rights in early 2014.
