There is no release date for El Muerto. Ground?

Sony Pictures has pulled out of its release scheduleThe dead“, a Marvel superhero film rumored to be directed by Jonás Cuarón and starring Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny as Juan-Carlos Sánchez/El Muerto. The film will be set in Sony’s Spider-Man universe and will be released after the premieres of “Venom”, “Morbius” and the future “Kraven the Hunter” (published October 6, 2023) and “Madam Web” (Premiering February 16, 2024).

The film was scheduled to premiere on January 12, 2024. However, the studio canceled that date without setting another, so we’ll see what happens with the project. Deadline cites various reasons that may have led to the cancellation, including the famous writers’ strike and the fact that the film couldn’t be completed due to the star’s upcoming concert tour.

“It’s amazing, it’s incredible”said Bad Bunny himself when the project was announced at CinemaCon 2022. “I love wrestling. I grew up wrestling and I am a wrestler. I’m a former champion so I love this character. I think it’s the perfect role for me and it’s going to be epic.”.

Created by Peter David and Roger Cruz, El Muerto first made its debut in 2006 “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #6”. Also known as Juan Carlos Estrada Sánchez, this Spider-Man nemesis is a super-powered fighter thanks to a mystical mask. He inherited his powers from his father, who sacrificed his life to save Juan Carlos from his nemesis, El Dorado.
