NEON has the first trailer for “Origin‘, new film written and directed by Ava DuVernay (‘Selma‘) with, among others, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Connie Nielsen. The tape is an adaptation of the 2020 non-fiction novel.“Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent”by Isabel Wilkerson.
The film focuses on the unspoken system that shaped America in a story that tells how our lives today are defined by a hierarchy of human divisions.
Rounding out the cast are Niecy Nash-Betts, Audra McDonald, Nick Offerman, Blair Underwood, Finn Wittrock and Jasmine Cephas-Jones. The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and will be released in US theaters later this year.
