Vertical Entertainment released the trailer for “The Pod Generation‘, a sci-fi romantic drama starring four-time Emmy-nominated actress Emilia Clarke(‘last christmas‘) and Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor(‘12 years slave‘). The film is slated to hit US theaters on August 11th.

The story takes place in the near future where AI is all the rage and nature becomes a distant memory. It revolves around Rachel and Alvy, a New York couple ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family.

Rachel’s work gives them the opportunity to use a new tool being developed by tech giant Pegasus that allows couples to share a pregnancy on an equal basis through removable artificial wombs or sheaths. Alvy, a botanist and committed purist, has doubts, but his love for Rachel prompts him to take the leap of faith. And so begins the wild ride to parenthood in this brave new world.

Directed by Sophie Barthes(‘Madame Bovary‘), with Andrij Parekh as cameraman. Yann Zenou is responsible for the production (‘The Untouchables’‘) and Genevive Lemal for scope (‘Annette’), with Rosalie Craig, Vinette Robinson, Kathryn Hunter and Jean-Marc Barr completing the cast.
