If a film has garnered media attention in a summer of film flops and box office disappointments, it’s the film that Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig directed and co-wrote (Lady Bird, little woman). This event, of course, frightens executives mattelwho want to force them to “go back to their box” as soon as possible.

#Barbie is perfection. Greta Gerwig delivers a nuanced commentary on what it means to be a woman in a quirky, wonderful and laugh-out-loud hilarious romp. The entire cast shines, particularly Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in roles they were clearly born to play. 🎀

#Barbie surprised me and I mean that in the best sense. It’s funny, bombastic and very clever. Greta Gerwig aims for the fences and hits a home run. Margot Robbie’s performance is great & @Ryan Gosling & @SimuLiu are pure entertainment! The entire cast is brilliant! pic.twitter.com/oXH965aUIF

I can’t officially leave Twitter until I tell you all this #Barbie is currently my favorite film of the year. Greta Gerwig somehow exceeded my expectations. She is so wonderful at addressing the positives and negatives of Barbie. Give Ryan Gosling an Oscar nomination, I’m dead serious!

Perri Nemiroff, from colliders:
In total, #Barbie isn’t quite the hit I was hoping for, or I think it needs to be given some consideration for the issues it raises, but it’s still a well-made, bold film with a VERY strong voice and vision that draws me in often made you think: HOW does this film exist? And right there it is almost… pic.twitter.com/b0LxUfdInq

“I have seen Barbie! The craft is amazing. The costume and production design, in particular, involves work of the highest caliber that goes a long way towards creating the feeling that these are actually Barbies, whose dream homes and worlds are brought to life.
As for the story, I’m a bit more mixed. I think the film fits particularly well with Margot Robbie’s Barbie and her journey, but there are other characters who are going through big storylines and needed more screen time to fully immerse themselves and explore.
Overall it’s not quite the hit I was hoping for, at least considering the issues it raises, but it’s still a brave, well-crafted film with a VERY strong voice and vision. One that made me often wonder: HOW does this film exist? And there is almost always a quality in a film that will convince me.
Sharronda Williams of Pay or wait:
wavering between camp #Barbie From the film we expected a sometimes overly intrusive social commentary on society, deviating from important subplots and character development. The production and costume design are stunning, but overall I would have liked a little more from the film.

“Barbie is funny, genuine and quite frankly a lot of fun. Ryan Gosling is a scene stealer who gets the most laughs, while Margot Robbie’s heartfelt performance will touch your heart. While I enjoyed the film for the most part, the script feels bloated at times, vacillating between the cheesy film we expected and overly direct social commentary that mars important subplots and character development. The production and costume design are impressive, but overall I wanted to see more of the film.”
Eze tree from media this week:
#Barbie is a triumph. An absolutely perfect screenplay, backed by superb performances – particularly from Ryan Gosling – transforms a simple studio comedy into a sharp commentary on our society, making its nuances palatable to those who might not take them at face value. Defy expectations
#BarbieMovie / #BarbieTheMovie is everything you would not expect. It peels off the superficial doll we’ve all grown up with while showing that Ken is more than just an asset and figuring out his identity. pic.twitter.com/585UL4nOTg

Heartwarming and hilarious!
#Barbie REVIEW: Heartfelt and Hilarious! Margot Robbie’s Crown Jewels Appearance (Oscars Here We Come). It’s super fun, adorable, and magical, with a third act that will have you hooked. This isn’t just another comedy, it’s Greta Gerwig’s BEST movie of all time!! A worthy conclusion that defines what comes next pic.twitter.com/qXPM8gSiqs

“Barbie: Heartwarming and Hilarious! The Appearance of the Jewel in the Crown by Margot Robbie (Oscar, here we go). It’s super fun, adorable and magical, with a third act that will leave you stranded on the beach. This isn’t just another comedy, it’s the BEST Greta Gerwig movie ever! With a fitting ending that introduces what follows.
This is really a beautiful film that everyone can love. If you think it looks too “girly” or not, you are dead wrong. It’s amazing how universal the themes are, and it’s bound to make a splash at the box office. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew!”
A classic
#Barbie It was a deeply cathartic experience. It’s about the industrialization of art/iconography that creates sensitivity, rather than individualism, and Greta tells it with so much joy and heart. I was cackling at Gosling’s Himbo Ken in one scene and crying my eyes out in the next. A classic
