Disney has released a new trailer“Percy Jackson and the Olympians”Television adaptation of the book series by Rick Riordan, the first two episodes of which will be released on Disney+ on December 20th. The teaser trailer shows Percy and his friends facing various challenges and mythological creatures.

The series tells the story of Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old modern demigod who has just embraced his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With the help of his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on the adventure of his life to find him and restore order to Olympus.

The series stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Additionally, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Megan Mullally, Toby Stephens, Virginia Kull, Jason Mantzoukas, Jay Duplass, Glynn Turman, Adam Copeland, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivea Morton, Suzanne Cryer, Timm Sharp, Timothy Omundson and the late Lance Reddick.

Rick Riordan, creator of Percy Jackson, worked closely with the creative team and showrunners Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz to bring his books to life. The first two episodes were written by Riordan and Steinberg and directed by James Bobin. Riordan, Steinberg, Shotz and Bobin executive produce alongside Rebecca Riordan, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, Jeremy Bell, DJ Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engstrom and Jet Wilkinson.

The Percy Jackson book collection has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.
